 3 – equipment and ties or basic knots

  • content : introduction to the equipment needed (types of rope, safety scissors), quick demonstration of basic knots, tête d’alouette (lark’s head), simple colonne, double column with clear visuals.
  • objective : to give students the essential knowledge of equipment and the confidence to start practising basic ties or knots.

Supervised practical part

 Hands-on workshop in pairs

  • activity : students team up to practise the basic knots presented above. If you don’t have your own ropes, each pair receives a practice kit including ropes and safety scissors.
  • supervision : the instructor circulates between pairs to offer personalised advice, correct techniques and answer questions.

Targeted exercises :

  • Exercise 1: Make a lark’s head knot on an inert object (e.g. bamboo) to practise without risk.
  • Exercise 2: application of the single and double spine on the partner’s wrists or ankles, in strict compliance with the principles of safety and consent discussed.
  • Feedback and Q&A: the final part of the workshop is devoted to collective feedback on the students’ experiences, to clarify any doubts and reinforce good practice.
